Complementary breakfast was served at the quality inn this morning. We wanted to get out before it closed. I stumbled out of the room to see a wide assortment of goodies. The eggs and sausage looked a little suspect so I went with the safe pick of cereal and yogurt. We finished our food, slowly packed our things, and were on our way.

The first stop was only a short distance from where we started. A quaint restaurant in the heart of Omak. There was no rush to get going so we stayed awhile. My dad had so many cups of coffee I thought we was gonna blow through the roof, but everything was fine and it was nice to relax for a bit. The next stop was Tonasket.

The next part of the day was spent on the road. It was about about 25 miles of relatively flat riding with a few ups and downs sprinkled about. We were planning on meet our friends Craig and Charley Stelling for an evening dinner so we had to get pushing. About 10 miles in, we bursted through the town of Riverside and we were back on highway 20.

It was around this time that I started having these strong feelings of wanting to be back home.

After the day we would be about halfway in between where’re we set out and our destination of Sandpoint, Idaho. However, the thought of spending another 5 days on the bike didn’t sit too well with me. I really wanted to get back home and decided that I was gonna head back with Craig and Charley in the morning.

This decision didn’t make me feel very good as I felt bad about abandoning my dad on this journey. My dad has the mental strength of a wizard and will keep pushing. I on the other hand really want to get back to see my other half Annie who I’ve been missing like crazy this whole trip. Although I will be cutting the trip short, spending this time on the bike had been a good reset on my mental and I’m glad I got a taster of what life on the road is like.

After arriving in Tonasket I noticed a sign saying it was 87F. It was at this point that I decided to take a sip of water. We rolled over to place called Shannon’s that offered lawn camping for a buck a night, the deal seemed almost too good to be true.

A short while later Craig and Charley pulled up with their dog Hank. We had dinner right there at Shannon’s. It was nice having some hot food with some cold drinks and some good company.

The rest of the night consisted of a call to Annie, a brisk walk through town, and Pokemon. Everyone was tired from their long days on the road and gravitated towards their bedding. My dad would need the most rest for his continued push across the state. I envy his determination and will to keep going, and hope he finds continued Zen on the Northern Tier.
